The Hopkins County Central Storm apparently like being on the road to start the 2025 soccer season. Playing away from home for the second time in a row to open the new season, the Storm came away with a physical 2-1 win over the Todd County Central Rebels in Elkton.
The game was a back-and-forth battle early. The Storm finally broke through midway through the opening half when they caught the Rebels flat on the back line and found the net to take a 1-0 lead.
Both teams continued to play tough, physical play for the rest of the half with Hopkins County Central taking a 1-0 lead into the break.

The back-and-forth nature of play continued as the second half got started. The Rebels pulled even when John Ross Cardwell found Charlie Campbell on a cross with Campbell sending it into the net to tie things up at 1-1.
The Storm struck one more time, and it was the one that mattered the most. When Todd County Central misplayed a clearance, Hopkins County Central converted with a long shot to take a 2-1 lead that the Storm would hold for the rest of the contest.
Riley Dunlap and Jude Mitchell had the scores for Hopkins County Central. Mitchell and Cohl Hoard had the assists. WIlliam Clevenger finished the night with 14 saves in goal.

Hopkins County Central improves to 2-0 with the win. The Storm are scheduled to host Apollo Tuesday evening.
