If the first week of the season has been any indication, the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers are going to be a hard team to score on this season. In fact, through the first two matches of the season, it has been impossible. The Lady Tigers came up with their second straight shutout Thursday night as they rolled past Ohio County 6-0 on mushy turf at the Stadium of Champions.
While the Lady Tigers scored six goals, it was the defense that was the story of the night as Hopkinsville just simply refused to allow the Lady Eagles many good scoring opportunities.
Hopkinsville got on the board at the 8:50 mark when Kaylyn Burgess Lynch took a pass in the middle of the box, turned and drilled a shot into the net to put the Lady Tigers ahead 1-0.

The Lady Tigers extended the lead at 32:15 when Lauren Mayes came down the left side and hit a chip shot that cleared the outstretched arms of the Ohio County keeper to make it 2-0, and that would be the score as the two teams headed off to the break.
It did not take long for Hopkinsville to get going again in the second half. Kaydon Coats scored just 4 ½ minutes into the half, pushing the Lady Tiger lead out to 3-0.
Four minutes later, Lauren Jones took a rebound of her own missed shot and directed it into the net to make it a 4-0 Hopkinsville lead.
Kaylyn Burgess Lynch found the net for the second time of the night at 62:30 off a perfectly played through ball to move the lead out to 5-0.

Kaydon Coats scored her second goal of the night at the 72:00 mark to end the scoring for the night.
Jaleigha McFarland had a big night in goal for the Lady Tigers. She had the shutout and ended up with 10 saves, including a spectacular play inside the final minute to preserve the shutout.
In addition to McFarland’s efforts, the Lady Tigers got big defensive efforts across the field, including the play of Emma DeArmond, Grace Cansler, and Caroline Baker.
Hopkinsville (2-0) gets back to action Saturday morning as they go on the road to take on Paducah Tilghman.
