
The Christian County Colonels finished up the football preseason with a trip to Fort Campbell Friday evening for the 2025 Border Wars hosted by the Falcons. The Colonels came away with a split of their two scrimmages, falling 26-7 to Kenwood and then taking a 20-0 win over Clarksville Northwest.
Each scrimmage was made up of two quarters played under normal game conditions.
In the scrimmage against Kenwood, the Knights scored 26 points in the first 10 ½ minutes to take a 26-0 lead. Kenwood used the big play to get on top, scoring on a 33 yard quarterback keeper, a 37 yard pass, a 44 yard pass, and a 21 yard touchdown run.
The Colonels had a better second quarter defensively, shutting out the Knights.
Christian County’s score came with 9:29 to go in the second quarter when Deasian Harris ripped off a 12 yard run to cut the lead to 26-7.
The scrimmage against Northwest saw the Colonels use defense to get to the lead. Darius Finch picked off a Viking pass and ran it back 60 yards for the score to put Christian County ahead 7-0.
Deasian Harris picked up his second score of the night with a powerful 15 yard run, bowling over a defender at the goal line with 5:38 left in the scrimmage to make it 13-0.
Christian County kicker Jayleigh Campbell drilled the extra point, her third of the night, to push the lead on out to 14-0.
The Colonels added one more score on the final play of the scrimmage as Tom Johnson scrambled to the right and found Darius Finch in the corner of the end zone as time expired.
Christian County now gets ready for the season opener next Saturday night when they host Clarksville Northeast.
