The preseason is now over for the Fort Campbell Falcons as they set their sights on the season opener against Clarksville Northwest next Friday night in the Wildcat Chevrolet Bowl at Trigg County High School. The Falcons had their final preseason tuneup Friday night as they hosted the annual Border Wars jamboree at Fryar Stadium.
The Falcons dropped a pair of two quarter scrimmages on the night, falling to Clarksville Northeast 14-7 and then dropping a 21-7 to West Creek.
In the opener, Northeast took the opening possession and drove down the field, capping off the drive on a 12 yard touchdown run from Montrell Perry to make it 7-0.

After the Falcons opening possession came up empty, the Eagles had the ball and made a mistake on a pass in the direction of the Falcons’ J.P. Perryman. Perryman made Northeast pay dearly as he picked the ball off and ran it back 45 yards for the score to tie the game at 7-7 with 6:01 to go in the first quarter.
The two defenses took over from that point and nothing changed until the final possession of the night for Northeast. The Eagles found the end zone on a 2 yard run from Montrell Perry with :54 seconds left for the winning score.
The scrimmage against West Creek started out about as badly as could be for the Falcons. West Creek took the opening possession and drove down the field, scoring on a 2 yard from Izick Headings to go up 6-0 with 8:58 to go in the first.

Quarterback Christian Whaley scored four minutes later on a 10 yard run, extending the lead to 12-0.
West Creek scored 16 seconds later after a Falcon turnover on a 15 yard pass to move the lead out to 19-0. Things got even worse for the Falcons on the next possession as they snapped the ball out of the end zone for a safety, and it was 21-0 with 2:39 to go in the first.
The Falcons lone score of the scrimmage came with 43 seconds to go in the first quarter as J.P. Perryman moved over to quarterback and rambled for a 49 yard touchdown, cutting the lead to 21-7.
However, because of the length of the first quarter, and due to the rules of the jamboree, most of the second quarter was played with a running clock to get the two quarters played in the 55 minute time limit, and neither team was able to get much going the rest of the way as the final score ended up at 21-7.
