The Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons football team is closing in on the start of their regular season, so they are scrimmaging other teams to prepare. They took on the Crittenden County Rockets on Friday evening, and it went as well as they could have hoped.
The team’s offense was able to shine, particularly running back Markezz Hightower, who scored twice in the game. Early in the contest, Hightower broke off a 70-yard run all the way to the house. Then, not long after, he caught a pass and took it just over 30 yards to the end zone.
The Maroons’ defense also played well, as they held Crittenden to just a single touchdown. Madisonville-North Hopkins took the game 48-7, and it takes both sides of the ball to do something like that.
They will be looking to do just that in their first game of the season on Friday, August 22, at Union County. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
