While the Elizabethtown Panthers had significantly more shots on goal than did the Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons Saturday morning, they don’t score the game based on shot attempts but rather by how many of those shots actually find the net. The Maroons got enough out of their shot attempts to battle the defending 5th Region runner-up Panthers to a 2-2 draw on a steamy morning in Madisonville.

For the match, Elizabethtown unofficially outshot the Maroons 17-4, but the Maroons got a big day out of Adam Devine and that helped them to be right there throughout the match. Devine finished the day with 10 saves.

E-town got on the board first when Luke Medley found Micah Songer with a perfect pass and Songer then found the net to put the Panthers up 1-0 just 2:30 into the match.

Madisonville tied the match late in the half. Nash Tapp broke open coming down the left-hand side and was able to get a shot off behind the keeper to even things up at 1-1 at the 32:50 mark.

In the second half, the Maroons grabbed some momentum at the 54:30 mark as Gavin Quinn came down the left side and drove a shot into the net, putting Madisonville up 2-1.

With temperatures rising quickly, the Panthers battled back and evened things up as Luke Medley beat Adam Devine to a ball in the box and then found the open net to make it a 2-2 match at 67:00.

E-town was assessed a red card with 6 minutes left in the match but the Maroons could not take advantage of the man difference as the two teams battled over the final minutes of the match.

Madisonville-North Hopkins (1-1-1) is set to get back to action Monday as the Maroons travel to the Stadium of Champions to take on the Hopkinsville Tigers.
