It was a battle, but the University Heights Academy Lady Blazers got the 2025 volleyball season off to a good start Monday night in Paducah. The Lady Blazers picked up a 3 sets to one win over Paducah Tilghman in the season opener for both teams.
The tone was set for the night in the opening set. It was a close one throughout as the Lady Blazers found a way to get the 28-26 win to go up one set to none.
Tilghman battled back in the second set and took the set 25-20 to even the match at one set apiece.
Like the opening set, the third set was another battle down to the wire, with UHA taking the win 25-23 to go up two sets to one.
The Lady Blazers then closed out the match with their best set of the night, taking the fourth 25-17 and taking the match three sets to one.
Megan Long and Cassidy Keller led the Lady Blazer attack at the net with four kills each. Gretchen Durham had a big night for UHA with 24 assists, 4 digs, and 3 blocks.
The Lady Blazers (1-0) are set to get back to action Thursday when they go back on the road to Henderson County.
