Caldwell County and Crittenden County will have to wait two more days to see which one of them will meet University Heights Academy for the girls’ 2nd Region All A Classic soccer championship.

The Lady Tigers led the Lady Rockets 1-0 in Tuesday’s semifinals when play was stopped because of lightning in the 22nd minute.

The night was already running late after the first match between UHA and Fort Campbell was delayed an hour and 15 minutes because of the weather. The Lady Blazers beat the Lady Falcons 9-1 in 67 minutes.

Caldwell (2-0) and Crittenden (3-0) didn’t get started until 8:30. Play was halted shortly before 9:00. With lightning continuing, the decision was made to suspend the contest.

The only goal of the contest came in the 5th minute, when Aliya Towns finished in front for Caldwell after Mariah Vickery had created the scoring opportunity.

The Lady Tigers and Lady Rockets will finish their game Thursday night in Eddyville following the boys’ All A Classic championship match at 5:30.

The girls’ championship will now be played next Monday.
