A goal late in the first half, after a lightning delay, and before a second lightning delay that ended the match, turned out to be the difference for the Daviess County Panthers Tuesday night as they took a 1-0 road win over the Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons.

The game was a scoreless draw when lightning forced a delay in the contest with 15:44 in the first half.

Not long after the two teams were back on the field, the Panthers managed to get the only goal of the night. An assist from Mack Burton led to a goal by Silas Goebel in the 30th minute that put Daviess County ahead 1-0.

That would be the lead as the two teams went to the break.

The match did not last long after the half. Another lightning delay was called for just over three minutes into the second half. This one would end up stopping the match, giving Daviess County the one-goal win.

The Maroons drop to 2-2-1 with the loss. Coming up next Monday is the crosstown 7th District battle against the Hopkins County Central Storm.
