Trigg County and Livingston Central are a pair of volleyball teams looking to make strides in 2025 with young rosters with experience returning in key spots.

Meeting on Tuesday, Livingston Central fired the first salvo in the district race with a 3-1 (25-20, 26-24, 16-25, 25-21) win over the Lady Wildcats. The match was played in Trigg’s elementary school gym, a site that will share homecourt time with the middle school as Wildcat Gym undergoes renovations that will last well past the volleyball season.

Abby Erickson had a big night for the Lady Cardinals with five kills, five aces, and 13 digs. Kaylee Williams, Chloe Doyle, and Jocelynn Morganson each added four kills, with Kameron Holt adding eight assists.

Livingston Central was playing without All-District setter Kaydence Smith, who missed the contest due to injury.

Grace Carver led Trigg County with 10 kills, two blocks, and two aces, with first-year sophomore Cali Jones contributing three kills, five blocks, and two aces. Sierra Williams had eight assists, and seventh grader Lilah Booth added four aces and four digs.

The win gave Kyle Smith the win in his Livingston Central coaching debut. The Lady Cardinals will host district rival Crittenden County on Thursday.

Trigg County (0-2) will play at Murray on Thursday.
