Heritage Christian Volleyball Spoils Hopkinsville Home Opener

The Hopkinsville High School volleyball team opened its regular season against the Heritage Christian Academy Lady Warriors at home, but it did not quite go the way that they were hoping for.

HCA took the first set with a fairly close score of 27-25. After that, they were able to take control and win the final two sets by a combined 23 points, therefore sweeping the Lady Tigers three sets to none.

The Lady Warriors were able to prevent Hopkinsville from capitalizing on a lot of spike opportunities, as they had a combined 60 defensive digs. They were also able to get a number of their points off of serves, as they had 14 aces.

Hadlee Hayes had 10 kills and 16 digs. Taylor Barbee added eight aces, nine digs, and five kills, and Makenzie McCarty had four kills and 12 assists for the Lady Warriors.

As for the Lady Tigers, Madysen Taggart led the team in kills with nine, as well as adding three aces. Kyleigh Weber led the team in digs with six, and Alayna King led the way with 16 assists.

The team will be looking to build on that solid play and get their first win of the season in their game against Garrard County on Saturday, August 23. The game is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. at Christian County.

As for the Lady Warriors, they will hope to start a win streak in their next one on August 23 against Foundation Christian Academy in the KCAC Tournament. Their game will begin at 10 a.m. in the MidAmerica Sport Center East in Louisville.
