It took two days, but Caldwell County’s girls have advanced to the finals of the 2nd Region All A Classic.
The Lady Tigers claimed a 3-1 victory over Crittenden County in a match that was suspended by lightning on Tuesday and finished Thursday night in Eddyville.
Aliya Towns had a hat trick for the Lady Tigers (3-0), who will next face University Heights Academy (2-0) for the championship on Friday at 5:30 at Lyon County.
Towns had given Caldwell a 1-0 lead on Tuesday when she scored in the 5th minute. Mariah Vickery picked up an assist on the play.
But the contest was stopped in the 22nd minute and ultimately suspended.
When play resumed Thursday, Towns scored two more goals — getting unassisted tallies in the 48th and 58th minutes by sticking in loose balls in front of the net. That pushed the Lady Tiger lead to 3-0.
Crittenden (3-1) got on the scoreboard in the 68th minute when Ella Geary had an unassisted goal.
But Caldwell was able to hang on to earn a spot in the championship match.
UHA has won 11 of the 12 2nd Region All A Classic tournaments.
Caldwell won the title in 2022.
