HCA Falls to Whitefield Academy in KCAC Volleyball Semis

The Heritage Christian Academy Lady Warriors’ bid for a KCAC state volleyball championship came up just a bit short Saturday. The Lady Warriors got all the way to the KCAC semifinals before losing in straight sets to Whitefield Academy of Louisville.

The day began for the Lady Warriors with a matchup against Foundation Christian. The Lady Warriors picked up the win in straight sets, winning 25-18 and 25-18.

Taylor Barbee led the Lady Warriors’ attack with 5 kills. She also had five service aces. Makenzie McCarty had seven assists and four aces. Charity Chambers finished the match with 13 digs.

The second match of the day found Heritage Christian taking on June Buchanan. Again, it was a two-set sweep for the Lady Warriors as HCA won 25-14 and 25-17.

Hadlee Hayes had a big match for Heritage, finishing with six kills. Makenzie McCarty had 9 assists and Charity Chambers added 7. Allison Craft led HCA in digs with 16.

The Lady Warriors then moved on to take on perennial 3rd Region power Whitesville Trinity. After dropping the first set 25-18, the Lady Warriors came back to take the next two sets 25-17 and 15-6 to claim the match two sets to one.

Taylor Barbee with a huge match for HCA, finishing with 11 kills, 3 assists, and 2 service aces. Hadlee Hayes added 7 kills and 13 digs for the Lady Warriors. Mackenzie McCarty continued to set the table for her teammates, ending up with 13 assists.

That moved the Lady Warriors into the KCAC semifinals against Whitefield Academy. Whitefield entered the match with HCA having not lost a set on the day, and they continued that run, knocking off the Lady Warriors 25-17 and 25-17.

Hadlee Hayes led the Lady Warriors with two kills in the match, Mackenize McCarty added two assists. Charity Chambers added 9 digs for the Lady Warriors.

Whitefield’s set run would end in the title game as they lost in straight sets to Portland Christian.

HCA’s Hadlee Hayes was named to the All-Tournament Team.
