In the 40-year history of Western Hills Golf Course in Hopkinsville, Henderson County’s Meryl Grogan put together one of the best rounds ever played by a female golfer on Saturday.
The Lady Colonel junior shot an 8-under par 64 to win the Christian County Lady Colonel Invitational by 10 shots.
Grogan had four birdies and two eagles on the front nine as part of an 8-under 28. She added three more birdies on the back nine as part of an even par 36.
Finishing second was her teammate Ainsley Dalton, who shot a two-over-par 74.
Lucy Whitfield finished in 6th place with an 80, and Cameran Davis was 22nd with a round of 96.
The 1-2 finish by Grogan and Dalton helped the Lady Colonels secure a first-place finish with a team score of 314, which was 24 shots better than second-place University Heights Academy.
