
Naomi Welborn has set aside the softball bat for a couple of months and replaced it with a golf club.
The Todd County junior was the first Lady Rebel in over five years to participate in a high school invitational on Saturday and brought home a top 25 finish at the Christian County Lady Colonel Invitational.
Welborn shot a round of 104 at Western Hills Golf Course in Hopkinsville, which placed her 24th.
Todd County Central has not fielded a full girls’ golf team at an invitational tournament in seven years, but Welborn’s entry into the sport could foster growth in the program.
Henderson County’s Meryl Grogan shot an 8-under-par 64 to take first place.
