The Hopkins County Central Lady Storm and the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers went the distance Monday night. The two teams battled through five sets as the Lady Tigers used a strong finish to pick up a tough 3-2 win on the Lady Storm’s home floor.

Early on, it looked as if it might be a quick night, as Hopkinsville rolled to a 25-12 win to take a one set to none lead.

But the Lady Storm would battle their way right back into the match. Hopkins County Central won a long, tough second set 29-27 to even up the match at one set each.

The Lady Tigers responded by playing a third set that looked much like their opening set of the night. Hopkinsville won the third 25-11 to go up two sets to one.

Again, back came the Lady Storm, gritting their way to a 25-23 win in the fourth set to pull even at two sets each and force the match-deciding fifth set.

However, it was all Hopkinsville in the final set as the Lady Tigers ran away to a 15-2 win to take the match three sets to two.

Madysen Taggart showed why she is one of the best in the 2nd Region, finishing with 18 kills for the match. Alayna King also had a big night with 21 assists, 8 service aces, and 3 digs. Kyleigh Weber added 20 digs, 9 aces, and 2 kills.

For Hopkins County Central, Calajia Mason led the attack at the net with 15 kills, while Izzy Gunn added 6. Mason also had four service aces.

Hopkinsville (1-6) will be back in action Thursday when the Lady Tigers host Todd County Central.
