The Hopkins County Central Storm will have to wait until the next time around for a chance at getting their first-ever win over crosstown and 7th District rival Madisonville-North Hopkins in boys soccer. The Maroons controlled the pace of play from the beginning Monday night and rolled to a 6-0 win at Donley Field.
The Maroon defense limited the Storm to just four shots for the night, three in the first half and one in the second. Meanwhile, Central keeper William Clevenger must have felt like the Madisonville offense was taking target practice as the Maroons got off 35 shots on goal.
Clevenger was able to come up with 13 saves on the night. Several of the saves were diving attempts that kept the Maroons from adding to their goal total.

Madisonville got on the board at the 24:41 mark when Dom Blanford made a strong move down the field and found the back of the net to make it 1-0.
Just over 7 minutes later, Blanford assisted on a goal from Aiden Knight that extended the lead to 2-0. That would be the margin as the two teams headed off to the break.
Four minutes into the second half, Nash Tapp beat his defender going down the right side and pushed the lead out to 3-0. At 56:30, Lou Bryant sent a perfect through ball to Aiden Knight on the run for Knight’s second goal of the night, making it 4-0.
Roscoe Redpath scored a pair of goals in the final five minutes of the match to get to the final six goal margin. Lou Bryant and Chandler Harris assisted on the scores.

The Maroons improve to 3-2-1 with the win, which was the fifth straight shutout win in the series for Madisonville. The Maroons are now off until September 4 when they go on the road to Marshall County.
Hopkins County Central drops to 3-1 for the season. The Storm will take on Calloway County Tuesday evening in the Class 2A sectionals at Trigg County.
