Coats’ Two Goal Performance Leads Hopkinsville Past Fort Campbell (w/PHOTOS)

A good start to 8th District play Tuesday evening for the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers. Hopkinsville got a big match from Kaydon Coats and claimed a 4-1 win over the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons at the Stadium of Champions.

After battling the Lady Falcons to a scoreless draw for the first 25 minutes of the contest, Hopkinsville got on the board at 25:32 when Coats scored her first goal of the night to put the Lady Tigers up 1-0.

Kaylyn Burgess Lynch scored her fourth goal of the season at the 32:45 mark to extend the Hopkinsville lead out to 2-0.

Kaydon Coats pushed the lead out to 3-0 with her second goal of the night and 8th of the season with less than a minute to go in the opening half.

Hopkinsville got an insurance goal from Caroline Baker, who scored for the first time of the season at 50:45 to make it a 4-0 match.

The Lady Falcons avoided the shutout later in the half when Abigal Allen beat a defender and got her shot past the Hopkinsville keeper to cut the lead to 4-1. But that would be the end of any rally.

The win was the 5th straight in the series for the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers.

Hopkinsville improves to 3-2 on the season and will go on the road Thursday night to take on Muhlenberg County.

Fort Campbell falls to 1-3, and the Lady Falcons now get ready to host the Mayfield Lady Cardinals Saturday morning on post.
