After nearly seeing their soccer season lost due to a lack of numbers, it was a noteworthy accomplishment in itself that the Heritage Christian Academy Warriors took to their home pitch Tuesday evening for their season opener. The Warriors, however, had to get things started with a district matchup against Hopkinsville, and the Tigers were ready to welcome HCA to the 2025 season.

Hopkinsville scored early and often over the forty minutes of the first half as the Tigers rolled to a 10-0 win over the Warriors. The match ended at halftime due to the eight-goal rule.

The Warriors were not lacking for effort and heart, but the Tigers’ talent and full summer of preparation were a bit much for HCA in its season opener.

Erick Hernandez took a rebound in the box and bounced it into the net to put Hopkinsville up 1-0, and the Tigers were off and running. Jason Macario scored the next two goals for the Tigers to push the lead out to 3-0.

The Tigers continued to crank up the offensive attack as Alex Ramirez, Sebastien Klar, and Erick Hernandez found the net, and the margin grew to 6-0.

Ryan Elizalde, Ayden Brison, and Jason Macario would also score, and the Tigers blew the lead out to 9-0.

Erick Hernandez completed his hat trick for the final goal of the night as Hopkinsville made it 10-0.

Hopkinsville improves to 3-1-1 with the win. The Tigers will go on the road Wednesday night to take on Henderson County.

Heritage Christian (0-1) will be back in action Thursday evening when the Warriors host Lyon County.
