Despite outshooting hosts Muhlenberg County 30-2 on Thursday, the Hopkinsville girls’ soccer team had to settle for a narrow 2-1 victory, the Lady Tigers’ third consecutive win.
Kaydon Coats scored a brace to take her season goal total to eight, with Emma Dearmond and Azaa Enkhtugs providing assists to help the Lady Tigers improve to 4-2.
It was also Hopkinsville’s third straight win in the series with the Lady Mustangs, who slipped to 3-4-1 with their third loss in a row.
To add to their winning run, the Lady Tigers will have to do something on Saturday morning that they’ve failed to do in their last six attempts: beat University Heights Academy. The Lady Blazers will enter the contest at 4-0, 1-0 in district play, after shutting out South Warren last Saturday.
