Cayden Cline opened his 2025 cross country season with a race he wasn’t pleased with, and the Christian County sophomore vowed to compensate for that over the weekend.

Cline won the Madisonville Cross Country Classic convincingly on Saturday, running a new personal best time of 17:23, knocking 23 seconds off his previous low time.

It was also more than seven minutes better than an 87th-place run last week at Trigg County on a day when he admitted he didn’t feel well and didn’t handle adversity well.

On Saturday, Cline handled Madisonville’s rolling campus course with ease, taking the lead early and coasting to a 19-second win over Paducah Tilghman’s Charlie Wolfram.

The win was Cline’s first in an invitational race and came on the same course where he finished in fifth place last year.

Cline will get a chance to score another high finish this Saturday at the Hopkins County Central Storm Invitational, where he finished in seventh place last year.

He talked about his run in this YSE interview
