Hopkinsville had a pair of runners finish in the top 10 at Saturday’s Madisonville Cross Country Classic.
Tyson Cavinder finished the 3.1-mile course in 17:48 to cross the line in fifth place.
Savior Davis ran the course in a new personal best time of 18:00 and placed seventh in the 82-runner field. He knocked 1:43 off his time last year when he finished in ninth place at the same event.
Fernando Ginez Rojas finished in 48th place with a time of 22:30, which was also a new low time for the sophomore.
Christian County’s Cayden Cline won the race in a time of 17:23.
Neither Hopkinsville nor Christian County sent the required five runners across the finish line to register a team score, something that shouldn’t be an issue next year when the high schools combine.
