Athletic officials at Madisonville-North Hopkins are introducing the members of the latest class of the Madisonville All Sports Hall of Fame. Among those to be inducted this year is Barry Quinn. Quinn enters the Hall of Fame for his career with the Madisonville-North Hopkins Track and Field team.
Barry Quinn, a 2007 graduate, was an eight-time varsity letterwinner, competing in cross-country and track and field.
A seven-time state qualifier, Quinn earned five medalist finishes in track, including 4th in the 3200m relay in 2005 and 2007, 5th in the 800m relay in 2007, and 7th in the 800m and 3200m relay in 2006.
He was also part of the 2004 cross country team, whose 10th place finish at the state meet was the highest team finish in school history at the time.
Over the course of his career, Quinn set school records, which still stand, in the 800m relay, 1600m relay, and 3200m relay. He was the 2006 regional champion in the 3200m relay, a three-time regional runner-up, and twice earned Second Team All-State honors.
Following graduation, Quinn competed in cross-country and track at Ohio University and Western Kentucky University, where he was a three-year letter winner, a member of five conference championship teams, and the 2011 recipient of the Sun Belt Conference Medallion for Academic Excellence.
Quinn now lives in Brighton, Michigan with his wife, Abby, and daughters, Kennedy and Kate.
Formal induction ceremonies are set for Friday, September 12.
