Christian County Retires Jersey of Griffin Joiner (w/PICS & VIDEO)

Christian County High School honored a life of athletic excellence Friday night as the school retired the jersey of former Lady Colonel standout Griffin Joiner.

Griffin Joiner is a 2011 graduate of Christian County. She was voted Kentucky Miss Softball and Gatorade Player of the Year in 2011.

Griffin earned All State softball Honors numerous times and was Salutatorian of her graduating class.

She holds the record presently for single season batting average .654, Career highest average .497, and most RBI in a season at 66. She attended college on a softball scholarship to the University of Kentucky where she earned All SEC honors numerous seasons and was named Senior CLASS Award All-American for her impact in Academics, Character, and Competition.

Joiner had a memorable grand slam home run vs. UCLA to lead the Wildcats to the 2014 College World Series. Earlier that same season she was named Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week and SEC Player of the Week after hitting .667 the opening weekend with two doubles, three homers, and 9 RBI.

Additionally, Griffin started every single game in her four seasons as a Wildcat. After college, she was drafted by the Akron Racers and played professional softball for three seasons where she was voted to the All NPF team in 2016.

Griffin presently coaches softball at the University of Louisville.
