The Marshall County Lady Marshals built a big halftime lead and rolled on Friday night to take an 8-2 win over the University Heights Academy Lady Blazers in the DC Electric Lady Marshall Classic, handing UHA its first loss of the season.
The Lady Marshals headed in a corner kick at 11:30 to take the early 1-0 lead over the Lady Blazers.
UHA pulled even less than a minute later when Skylar Cantrell headed in a cross from Kendall Hancock to tie it up at 1-1.
Marshall County grabbed control of the match by scoring three goals over the rest of the first half to take a 4-1 lead into the break.
The Lady Marshals opened the second half the way they closed out the first half, with three goals, and suddenly the match was out of hand at 7-1.
UHA got back on the board at the 78:00 mark when Maggie Mohon headed in a corner kick from Audrey Perry to trim the lead to 7-2.
Marshall County added a goal in the waning seconds to get to the final six goal margin.
UHA (6-1) is back in Draffenville Saturday to take on the Daviess County Lady Panthers.
