To say it has been a tough start to the season for the Warren Central Lady Dragons would be an understatement. The Lady Dragons entered Saturday’s Lady Colonel classic having not won a game, and not only that, but they had not scored a goal in any of their matches, having been outscored 73-0.
The Christian County Lady Colonels extended that bad start for the Lady Dragons Saturday by handing Warren Central a 2-0 loss Saturday morning at the Stadium of Champions.
Warren Central’s defense was much better but still the Lady Dragons, who had some scoring opportunities, could not find a way to get the ball in the net.
The match was a scoreless tie until the final two minutes of the opening half when Jayleigh Campbell found the net from the right side of the box, giving Christian County a 1-0 lead it would take into the break.
Midway through the second half Norah Westerfield found the ball in the box and pushed it past the goalie to extend the lead to 2-0.
From there is was a matter of the Lady Colonel defense keeping the door closed on the Lady Dragons, which is just what they did.
The win improved Christian County to 2-5-1 while the Lady Dragons dropped to 0-6 with the loss.
