After a couple of tough battles over the weekend, the UHA Lady Blazers were more than ready for their All A sectional matchup Monday evening at Givens Field. UHA scored early and never looked back on the way to an 8-0 mercy-rule win over Mayfield in a match that ended at the half.
Skyler Cantrell scored on a run down the left side at 6:20 to put the Lady Blazers up 1-0, and the avalanche of goals was on.
Over the next five minutes, the Lady Blazers got goals from Audrey Perry and Kendall Hancock as the lead grew to 3-0.
After assisting on Audrey Perry’s goal, Alyssa Grise scored two goals in a six minute span, and the lead was 5-0.
The Lady Blazers delivered the knockout blow with a three-goal blitz from 27:30 to 32:11. Kendall Hancock, Cecilia ‘Clyde’ Langhi, and Audrey Perry scored during the final run. Perry’s goal came on a penalty kick.
The Lady Blazer defense allowed the Lady Cardinals just one shot on goal over the 40 minutes, that coming in the final moments of the half.
The Lady Blazers (7-1-1) now move on to the All A Classic quarterfinals at Louisville Collegiate on Friday, September 19, at 3:15 against the winner of the match between Beechwood and the winner of the 10th Region
