The Caldwell County Tiger soccer team is 3-5 after dropping a 6-2 decision at Mayfield on Tuesday.
Caldwell got off to a good start when Kale Turmero scored on a long shot in the 31st minute. Landon Lanham picked up the assist on the play as the Tigers grabbed a 1-0 lead.
However, Mayfield (3-5) picked up the pace in the second half, scoring five straight goals to take control of the contest.
Caldwell netted its second goal on a Colin Turmero penalty kick late in the game.
The Cardinals also tallied a late score to make it 6-2.
Caldwell, which won last year’s matchup between the two schools, trails Mayfield all-time 11-6.
Next up for the Tigers will be the conclusion of their home game against Webster County, which was stopped Aug. 12 at Butler Stadium.
The Trojans led that match 1-0 when lightning halted play in the 35th minute.
The contest will be resumed on Monday.
