Trigg County and Fort Campbell are two improving volleyball programs from a year ago, with the Lady Falcons improving at a slightly faster clip.
That was evident on Tuesday as Fort Campbell took a 3-1 win over the Lady Wildcats. The sets were 25-15, 24-26, 25-23, 25-13 in the Lady Falcons’ favor.
The match was played in Trigg County’s Primary School Gym as the normal home of the Lady Wildcats continues its renovation project.
Fort Campbell improved from three wins in 2023 to eight wins last year. They entered Tuesday with a record of 5-3 as they work for the program’s first winning campaign in 15 years.
The Lady Falcons took control of the first set with a 10-0 run to build an 18-7 lead. Trigg would get as close as nine points twice before Fort Campbell closed out with a 25-15 win.

The second set featured 13 ties and seven lead changes and saw Trigg County rally to score four of the final five points to get the 26-24 win.
Trigg County’s Cali Jones had five of her eight kills in the set, while Grace Carver had a pair of aces.
The Lady Wildcats continued their run in the third set, as they took a 17-13 lead. Fort Campbell tied things at 17 with the score knotted five more times. Trinity Perkins tied the set at 23 for the Lady Wildcats, but a serving error and double hit on the next two possessions ended things at 25-23.
After a hiccup in the second set that saw Fort Campbell have five service errors and five attack errors, they only had three total over the final two sets.
The fourth set was tied eight times early until Fort Campbell got some breathing room to take a 13-9 lead. Behind the serving of D’Lyla Melton, Fort Campbell went on a long run to get the 25-13 win.

Melton finished with eight kills, three aces, and 10 digs for the Lady Falcons, while Baylee Backes added eight kills and nine digs, and Kyndal Bradley had five kills.
Fort Campbell was strong in the return game with Sam Carrico (20 digs), Olivia Voelkel (18 digs), and Bradley (12 digs) coming up big. Makayla Galvez added 28 assists and four aces.
Carver had six kills and five aces for Trigg County, and Greyson Berthhume added four kills. Perkins had four kills and three aces. Chloe Adams had nine assists, and Sierra Williams added eight. Lilah Booth had 11 digs for the Lady Wildcats.
Trigg County, which lost to Fort Campbell in straight sets in the season opener, fell to 1-7. After scoring 37 points in the loss to Fort Campbell on Aug. 18, Trigg scored 77 points on Tuesday as they continue to experience growing pains in their rebuilding quest.
Trigg County will travel to Livingston Central for a 5th District match on Thursday, while Fort Campbell has a district match of its own on Thursday when it hosts Hopkinsville.
