Lady Warriors Await ‘Three Wise Teams from the East’ in All A Classic

The teams are now all set for this weekend’s All A Classic state volleyball tournament at the Owensboro Convention Center. Pool play is set to begin Friday evening.

Each team will play two pool matches on Friday night and then finish pool play on Saturday morning. The winner and runner-up in each pool will then advance to the single-elimination championship bracket Saturday afternoon. The third and fourth place teams will play in the consolation bracket.

For the 2nd Region champion Heritage Christian, it will be getting to know some folks from the east, as they have been placed in Pool D for the pool play portion of the tournament.

In addition to Heritage Christian Academy, Pool D includes Williamsburg, Knott County Central, and Raceland.

Heritage Christian enters the tournament at 10-5, with two of the losses having come to Madisonville-North Hopkins.

Williamsburg is 9-7 headed into the All A. The Lady Jackets did not lose a set in their All A regional tournament.

Knott County Central (11-1) comes into the weekend on a roll. After losing their season opener to Leslie County, the Lady Patriots have won 11 straight.

Raceland heads to Owensboro with a record of 4-7. The Lady Rams have run into a rough patch as of late, losing 7 of their last 8 matches.

HCA will take on Williamsburg Friday night at 6:45 and then battle Knott County Central at 8:30. The Lady Warriors will complete pool play Saturday morning at 9:15 against Raceland.

Bracket play is scheduled to start at 11 am.

Heritage Christian is making its first-ever appearance in the All A Classic. The Lady Warriors won the KHSAA 2nd Region tournament for the first time last fall.

Some interesting notes:

Heritage Christian and Williamsburg are separated by 223 miles.

Heritage Christian and Knott County Central are separated by 290 miles.

Heritage Christian and Raceland are separated by 334 miles.
