Haven’t we always heard that there is no bad publicity when it comes to a sports team. If a team is getting national attention, that is supposed to be good for the program.
Kentucky-Ole Miss last week was the second-most-watched game of week two in college football as it drew 4.8 million viewers on ABC-TV.
That was about 500,000 more people than Big Noon Kickoff’s rivalry game between Iowa and Iowa State on FOX had. Of course, Oklahoma and Michigan drew 9.7 million in the primetime window on ABC last Saturday night.
But still, 4.8 million viewers is a BIG viewing audience for UK. The problem is not only did Kentucky have a large number of recruits on campus, but fans across the country watched the UK offense implode and the ABC-TV crew made sure everyone knew it.
“We just chronicled Mark Stoops’ tenure, and for the most part, it’s been a very successful tenure. It’s turned south the last couple of years. But these are the kinds of things, if you’re on the hot seat, they’ll get you fired,” ABC-TV play-by-play announcer Sean McDonough said. “It just does not look like a well-coached football team in terms of management and operation.
“They do a lot of things very well, they play great defense, they coach great defense, but the offense and the game management is an issue, at least recently.”
A lot more folks than just Kentucky fans got to see that last week on ABC-TV.

Stoops has Caliparitis…he no longer wants to be here but nobody else wants him…nobody.
The real option is for Stoops to do the right thing, and resign.
Let me add,
If he would do the right thing,
He will finish the season, be honored at the end by fans and the University for all his contributions, and he has achieved many plausible things for the UK football program.
The UKAA can begin its coach search now, totally above board, with as good a chance as possible to find a good coach who will come in and pick up the pieces.
Come on Coach Stoops, Do the right thing!
