After playing 12 volleyball matches over 11 days, the Christian County Lady Colonels are in the midst of a six-day gap between games.
The Lady Colonels finished off the busy stretch with a five-set win at Crittenden County on Tuesday. After dropping the first two sets 25-23 and 25-12, the Lady Colonels rallied to win the final three sets 25-15, 25-17, and 15-7 to claim the match.
It was Christian County’s first five-set win after falling behind 0-2 since a victory over Caldwell County in 2023. Tuesday was the first five-set affair of the season for the Lady Colonels, who were 1-1 last year when the match went the distance.
Kaidence Atwell had 19 kills and four blocks at the net for the Lady Colonels, while Katie Cansler added 12 kills.
Setting the table was Ashlea Russell, who had 32 assists, 13 digs, and three aces.
Kiley Lambert had five kills and three aces, and Shiloh Baker contributed 18 digs and a pair of aces. Autumn Cook also had nine digs in the contest.
Christian County inched closer to the .500 mark with a 9-10 record. However, the Lady Colonels are 4-1 against region opposition – second-best only to Henderson County’s 5-0 region mark.
Christian County is back on the floor Monday at Webster County, which sports a 3-1 record against the region.
Crittenden County fell to 5-9 overall and 4-6 against region teams. The Lady Rockets will play at Union County on Monday.
