Two tough losses for the Heritage Christian Academy Lady Warriors during the pool play portion of the All A Classic state volleyball tournament Friday night at the Owensboro Convention Center. HCA dropped matches to Williamsburg and Knott County Central. The loss to Knott County Central was especially difficult due to the way it unfolded.
HCA opened the night taking on Williamsburg, champions out of the 13th Region. The Lady Jackets were a team that did not make many unforced errors, simply keeping the ball in play and putting the pressure on the opponent on the other side of the net.

The Lady Warriors fell behind early in the opening set but then rallied to come back and take a 12-9 lead. Williamsburg responded by battling back to go up 19-14. The Lady Warriors would close to within 21-20 but it was the Lady Jackets taking the set 25-21.
The second set saw HCA struggle early and fall behind 9-2 and then 13-4. The Lady Warriors made a charge back and got as close as 3 points at 13-10, 14-11, and 16-13. Williamsburg was able to fend off the comeback attempts and went on to take the set 25-19 and the match two sets to none.
Heritage closed out the night against 14th Region champ Knott County Central in a match that started close to an hour late due to the length of some of the earlier matches in the convention center.
The Lady Patriots took the Lady Warriors out of the opening set early on, jumping out to leads off 5-0 and 13-2. Knott County Central rolled to a 25-13 win to go up one set to none. HCA had trouble with the size of Samara Bailey up front for the Lady Patriots.

The second set is one that will hang with the Lady Warriors for a bit. Heritage was the team that came out on fire to start the second, scoring the first five points and then carrying that out to a 13-4 lead.
The lead was stil 19-12 when Knott Central made its move. The Lady Patriots closed to within 21-19 and then tied the match at 23-23, 24-24, and 25-25 before scoring the final two points to win the set 27-25 and take the match two sets to none.
Heritage Christian will play its final pool play match Saturday morning against Raceland.
