A growing volleyball program has to win sets before it can win matches.

Trigg County, owners of a 5-72 record over the past four seasons, is making some headway in turning its program around. The Lady Wildcats won the first set at Livingston Central on Thursday, 25-20, before the Lady Cardinals rallied to win the final three sets 25-19, 25-14, 25-9.

Trigg has won five sets this season in nine matches — the same number as last year in 17 matches.

Trinity Perkins had seven kills and four aces for the Lady Wildcats, while Grace Carver had four kills and three aces, and Sierra Williams added four kills, six assists, and two aces. Chloe Adams had eight assists and four aces, and Lilah Booth had 24 digs and three aces.

Abby Erickson had 12 kills to lead Livingston Central, while Kaydence Smith added 18 digs, 14 assists, and seven of the Lady Cardinals’ 23 aces.

Trigg County begins a four-match homestand on Monday against Russellville and a Tuesday match with Hopkins County Central.
