UHA Edges Hoptown in Four-School Weekday Match

University Heights Academy edged Hopkinsville by two shots in a four-team golf match on Thursday at the Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club.

Bryson Turner took medalist honors for the Blazers, shooting a 41 over nine holes. Jackson Flynn took second place, one shot back of Turner.

Nash McAfee had a 44 for the Blazers, followed by Drew Fields (49) and Courtland Gibson (51).

Five other Blazers made up a second team that shot a 185, nine shots behind the ‘A’ team. Waylon Johnson led the way with a 43, followed by Jackson Crick and Jordan Logan (47), Cody Robinson (48), and Michael Flynn (50).

UHA’s team score of 176 was two shots better than Hoptown, who saw Matt Baker, Ryan Martin, and Henry Riggs each shoot a 44. J.B. Payne shot a 46, followed by Sam Riggs (52), Aiden Riley (55), Landon Hollimon (62), and Alex Naylor (63).

Christian County came in third place with a team score of 208. Drew Fincham led the Colonels with a 47, followed by Chris Adcock (48), Reed Ezell (54), Clayton Dixon (57), Cansler Wells (59), and Jaedon McMillan.

Heritage Christian Academy had a pair of golfers compete, led by Cruz Egbert’s score of 46, good for eighth place. Sawyer Lexey added a 63 for the Warriors.

All four schools will compete in the Region 2 Golf Tournament on Monday, September 22, at the Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club.

For the girls, UHA’s Campbell Lindsey shot the low score with a 3-over-par 39, three shots better than teammate Caroline Tucker. Ella Perry shot a 43, and Allie Sandifer carded a 47 for the Lady Blazers, who had a team score of 171.

Christian County’s Anslee West shot a 59.
