Caldwell County used a dominating first-half performance to roll to a 56-14 victory in its first appearance at Webster County in 18 years.

The Tigers outgained the Trojans 247-33 in the first half Friday night while building a 35-0 lead at halftime.

Caldwell (3-1) rarely touched the ball in the second half — which was played with a running clock — but still added two special teams score to finish off the win.

Kam Wilson had four touchdowns for Caldwell. He scored the first three TDs of the game, helping the Tigers go up 21-0 just one play into the second quarter.

When Webster (0-4) tried an onside kick to start the second half, Wilson snared the ball, shook a tackler and raced 50 yards to the end zone for another score.

Caldwell ran just five offensive plays from scrimmage in the second half.

Meanwhile, Webster put up a couple of scores as the Tigers worked younger players into the contest.

The Trojans got as close as 49-14 before Shane Fairrow took the next kickoff 79 yards for a touchdown.

Daelyn Lander passed for 126 yards and four scores for Caldwell.

Lander had a 2-yard touchdown pass to Wilson in the first quarter, then threw for a pair of TDs in the second quarter. Lander hit Drew Stevens on a screen pass that went 21 yards to the end zone. He then found Derek Wilson wide open for a 27-yard scoring strike that made it 35-0, reaching the mercy rule for a running clock with 5:15 left in the first half.

Lander’s final touchdown pass came late in the third quarter when a deflected ball was grabbed by Dayton Wilson for a 4-yard score.

Derek Wilson had five receptions for 85 yards.

The Tigers had a balanced rushing attack. Fairrow had 52 yards, Colson Mattocks 45, Lander 39 and Kam Wilson 36.

Caldwell finished the night with 307 total yards.

Webster totaled 187 yards despite the difficult first half.

Hayden Wright scored on a 2-yard for the Trojans’ first TD midway through the third quarter.

Wright then found Elliot McCuiston behind the defense for a 32-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter.

Even though it had been a while since the teams met, Caldwell has won seven straight in the series.

The Tigers hold a 25-7 advantage all-time.

The contest was the final tune-up for Caldwell before Class 2A 1st District play begins next week when Trigg County visits Tiger Stadium.

The Tiger football team will play its next four games at home — all district games against Trigg, Fort Campbell, Mayfield and Todd County Central.
