Madisonville-North Hopkins picked up a split Saturday as the Maroons hosted the Maroon Classic. Apollo, Paducah Tilghman, and Lexington Bryan Station made their way into town to take part in the event.
The Maroons began the day by picking up a 3-1 win over Paducah Tilghman. Madisonville took a 1-0 lead in the first half off a goal from Jeremiah Scisney. Nash Tapp was credited with the assist on the score.
Both defenses locked it down after that as the first half ended with the Maroons still holding the one goal lead.
The Blue Tornado found the net in the second half to even things up at 1-1.
Madisonville responded with a goal from Aiden Knight to take the lead back at 2-1.
The Maroons then later added an insurance goal when Roscoe Redpath found the net off an assist from Aiden Knight that sealed the win.
The nightcap did not go as well for the Maroons as they fell to Lexington Bryan Station 6-0. The Defenders lived up to their name, winning their second game of the day by shutout. Earlier, they had beaten Apollo 8-0.
The two shutouts give the Defenders eight for the season.
The Maroons (5-5-1) go on the road Tuesday to take on Henderson County.
