Lady Blazers Pick Up District Win Over Hopkinsville

The UHA Lady Blazers picked up their third win in the last four matches and the second win over the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers in the last week Tuesday night. The Lady Blazers rolled to a straight-set win in what was the final regular season meeting between the two teams ahead of next year’s merger of Hopkinsville and Christian County.

UHA came out and took the first set 25-18 to go up one set to none. The Lady Blazers then had their best set of the night in the second, winning 25-12 to take a two sets to none lead.

Hopkinsville battled back in the third but could not get back over the hill as the Lady Blazers closed out the match with a 25-19 win.

Megan Long and Niyati Patel led the Lady Blazer attack at the net. Long finished with 5 kills, while Patel added four. Cassidy Keller added five service aces, all coming in the final set. Gretchen Durham finished the night with 13 assists.

For Hopkinsville, Madysen Taggart had six kills. 1 block, 2 digs, and a service ace. Alayna King finished with 5 assists and one ace. And, Kyleigh Weber chipped in with five digs and two service aces.

UHA (7-8) is back in action next Monday, hosting the Todd County Central Rebels.

Hopkinsville (2-11) hosts Trigg County next Tuesday evening.
