
Owensboro Catholic broken open a tie game with three unanswered goals in the second half as the Lady Aces took a 4-1 win over the Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons Thursday night at Donley Field. The loss is the second straight this week for the Lady Maroons.
The match was a back-and-forth scoreless battle until the Lady Maroons were called for a foul on a contested ball in the front right corner of the box at the 28:00 mark. Allie Marston scored the PK to put the Lady Aces up 1-0, a score that would still be in place at the break.
Catholic held the lead at the break despite being outshot 6 to 4 over the first 40 minutes.

The Lady Maroons pulled even early on in the second half, getting a return penalty kick opportunity when the Lady Aces were called for a foul in the right side of the box. Hadley Hodges scored the PK and things were even at 1-1 at the 44:30 mark.
But it was all Owensboro Catholic from that point.
Scarlett Isenbarger found the net at 49:45 to put the Lady Aces back in front 49:45.
At 58:15, Owensboro Catholic’s Meredith Traylor broke open on a run down the left and drilled a shot just over the goalkeeper’s hands to extend the lead to 3-1.
Just over 8 minutes later, Allie Marston scored her second goal of the night, this one on a direct kick from the right hand side that put the Lady Aces up 4-1.

After being outshot in the first half, Owensboro Catholic won the shots battle in the second half 9 to 4.
Madisonville-North Hopkins drops to 8-5 with the loss. The Lady Maroons hit the road Saturday to take on Evansville Christian.
