The first half performance for the defending All A Classic girls’ soccer champion turned out to be enough to end the University Heights Academy Lady Blazers’ hopes of making a run at the title. Bishop Brossart scored three first-half goals and made them stand up as they knocked off the Lady Blazers 3-0 at Louisville Collegiate.
It took Bishop Brossart just three minutes to get things rolling as the Lady Stangs found the net and took a quick 1-0 lead. Rachel Shewmaker scored off a free kick for Brossart.
Brossart had a chance to extend the lead less than six minutes later, but Lady Blazers’ goalie Madison Williams came up with the save on the penalty kick at 8:13, keeping the score at 1-0.

Williams would end up stopping the Lady Stangs with two diving saves about 10 minutes later in the half to keep things from being in even a tougher situation for the Lady Blazers, as the teams went into a first-half water break due to the heat.

Coming out of the water break, the Lady Stangs found the net again at the 22:00 as Kylie Smith scored, pushing the lead out to 2-0.
Near the 37:00, Bishop Brossart scored for the third time, as Smith found the net for a second time, increasing the Lady Stang margin to 3-0.

Coming out of the halftime break, it was a defensive effort for both teams over the final 40 minutes. The problem for the Lady Blazers was that pesky halftime deficit, which they could not find a way to take a bite out of as the half played out.
UHA’s best chance to get on the board came just after the 68:00 mark when Kendall Hancock got a 1-on-1 scoring opportunity, but Bishop Brossart was able to come up with the save to preserve the lead.

Madison Williams had a stellar day in the net for UHA, coming up with 18 saves.
The loss drops the Lady Blazers to 10-2-1. UHA gets back to action Monday at Hopkins County Central.
