Despite a number of lightning delays that caused the game to last until after midnight, the Hopkinsville Tigers were able to finish their Friday night game against South Warren. Unfortunately they were not able to continue their win streak, as they fell 33-21.
Hopkinsville got on the board first when they forced a safety, and they were also able to score the first touchdown of the game as well. But not long after, South Warren was able to tie it up at 8-8.
Both teams were able to score another touchdown, but it was the Spartans who were able to grab a 21-15 lead with two field goals before the halftime break.
The Tigers were able to score another touchdown after halftime, but South Warren was able to hold their lead and take the game 33-21 after playing some solid defense in the late stages of the game.
But just because Hopkinsville did not come out on top does not mean that they did not have their bright spots and their star players.
James Bradley Jr. led the way for the Tigers with 106 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Jasiah McCarley was under center for Hopkinsville, and was able to throw a touchdown to Tremayne Clay in addition to his 203 yards through the air.
The Tigers will be looking to bounce back in their next game on Friday, September 26, against Carterville on the road. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
