
The Madisonville North Hopkins girls’ golf team finished in 7th place at Monday’s Region 2 tournament at the Henderson Country Club. The Lady Maroons finished 24 shots ahead of 8th-place Owensboro and 21 shots behind 6th-place Owensboro Catholic.
Harper Frizzell had the low score of the day for the Lady Maroons with a 22 over par 94. Her round included a birdie on the par-4 10th hole. However, Frizzell missed qualifying for the KHSAA state first round by six shots.
Reagan Ramsey came in 27th place with a 24-over-par 96.
A.J. Ratliff finished in 31st place with a 102, while Emma Duncan tied for 38th place with a 110, and Brooklyn Nelson was 41st with a 114.
Henderson County’s Meryl Grogan took the individual championship with a one-under-par 71, which was one shot better than Daviess County’s Claire Reynolds.
The start of Monday’s match was delayed four hours due to heavy rain and lightning. The golfers got in just over three hours on the course before a nearly one-hour delay halted play just after the golfers made the turn around 3:40.
Play wrapped up just before seven o’clock as another storm rolled through the Henderson area.
