Hopkins County Central Takes Part in Quad State Tournament

A tough weekend for the Hopkins County Central Lady Storm on the volleyball court. The Lady Storm were in Paducah, taking part in the annual Quad State Tournament at the Paducah Convention Center.

The Lady Storm began the weekend facing the Owensboro Lady Red Devils in pool play Friday night. Owensboro got the win in straight sets, 25-16 and 25-9.

The final game of pool play Friday night had the Lady Storm matching up against 2nd Region opponent Christian County. The Lady Colonels got on a roll early and never looked back, winning the match 25-10 and 25-10.

The results Friday night moved the Lady Storm into the Bronze Bracket of the tournament and got them a first round match against their district rival Caldwell County. The Lady Tigers took a straight-set win in the match 25-18 and 25-15.

Up next for Hopkins County Central was a match against Community Christian. This one belonged to CCA as they took the win in two sets 25-14 and 25-18.

The final match of the weekend was against the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers. The Lady Storm got off to a good start in the match, winning the opening set 25-22. Hopkinsville, however, rebounded to win the second 25-19 and then won a tight 15-12 battle in the third to comeback and get the win.

The Lady Storm are back on the court Tuesday night when they host the Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons.
