
A pretty good weekend for the Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons against some of Western Kentucky’s top teams. The Lady Maroons were in Paducah for the annual Quad State Tournament and came back with 3-2 record for the weekend.
The Lady Maroons opened pool play Friday with a matchup against Breckinridge County. The Lady Maroons got a big effort from Leah Moody and Cadence Curry, but it was still Breckinridge County taking the match 25-20 and 25-19.
The second match of pool play Friday night found the Lady Maroons squaring off with Community Christian Academy. Madisonville rolled through the opening set 25-14, but Community Christian came back in the second to tie the match with a 25-19 win. The Lady Maroons then won the third set 15-8 to pick up their first win of the weekend.
With the results of Friday, the Lady Maroons were placed in the silver bracket for Saturday play at Quad State.
The first match of bracket play had the Lady Maroons up against defending 2nd Region champion Heritage Christian. Madisonville continues to have the Lady Warriors number in the 2025 season, knocking off HCA for a third straight time, 26-24 and 25-19.
That win advanced Madisonville-North Hopkins on to face 4th Region power Logan County. The Lady Cougars controlled this one from the start, winning in straight sets 25-11 and 25-13.
Madisonville’s final game of the event was against Marshall County. The Lady Maroons came out ready to roll and hit the Lady Marshals with a 25-13 win in the opening set. The second set was much closer, coming down to the wire with the Lady Maroons pushing their way to a 26-24 win.
Madisonville gets back to action Tuesday, on the road at Hopkins County Central.
