Trigg County senior Emma Dowell extended her high school golf career on Monday by earning a berth in the State First Round next week.
Dowell carded an 18-over-par 90 on a challenging course at Rolling Hills Country Club in Paducah in the girls’ Region 1 Tournament on Monday.
Weather conditions were also difficult early on, as most of the field saw rain during their rounds. Wet conditions led to lift, clean and place rules, and players were allowed to lay out of bunkers.
Dowell, who finished in 14th place, carded a 44 on the front nine and a 46 on the back nine.
Trigg had three other golfers in action.
Livia Breckel was 32nd with a 116.
Ady Holley and Lily Eagleson tied for 33rd after each shot 119.
Marshall County’s Trinity Beth was medalist with a 6-under 66.
Ballard Memorial’s Madison Glisson was runner-up at 2-under 70.
The Lady Marshals won the team competition at 304. McCracken County was a distant runner-up at 358.
The State First Round is next Monday at Calvert City Country Club.
