
The Christian County Lady Colonels kicked off a big stretch of three 8th District matches Tuesday evening. The Lady Colonels traveled across North Drive and took a straight-set win over the University Heights Academy Lady Blazers.
The Lady Colonels had to push their way through some struggles at the service line to get the win. Over the three games, Christian County had 14 service errors, ten of them coming in the first two sets and helping the Lady Blazers stay in the match early.
The first set was back and forth throughout most of the set. With the Christian County lead at 21-19, the Lady Colonels finished out strong with four straight points to win the set 25-19 and go up one set to none.

Kate Cansler finished out strong and ended up with three kills in the set for the Lady Colonels. Cassidy Keller had a kill and two service aces for the Lady Blazers.
The turning point of the match came during the second set. Behind three early service aces from Gretchen Durham, UHA took a 6-0 lead. The Lady Blazers continued to hold the lead through much of the set. With the lead at 17-10, Christian County got on a roll. Led by a strong service effort from Peyton Owens, the Lady Colonels scored 10 straight points to take a 20-17 lead.
Christian County would go on to take the set 27-25 to go up two sets to none. Kaidence Atwell had five kills in the set and Kate Cansler added three more.

The third set saw the Lady Colonels score the first five points and then run off 8 straight late in the set as Christian County took the set 25-15 and finished out the sweep.
Christian County gets back to action Thursday on the road at Hopkinsville.
UHA is back on the court Thursday when the Lady Blazers host Madisonville-North Hopkins.
