Lyon County senior Cooper Collins grinded out an 83 at Tuesday’s Region 1 golf tournament at Murray Country Club.
That was good enough to earn Collins a spot in next week’s State First Round at Calvert City Country Club, with the 83 making the cut right on the number.
Cohen Wiggins was next for the Lyons with an 88.
Carson Collins shot a 95, Jonah Ramey 98 and Jimmy Cowan 102.
McCracken County’s Landon Hunt claimed medalist honors with a 70. It was his second Region 1 championship. He also won a Region 2 title at Christian County before moving to McCracken.
McCracken also won its third-straight regional team championship with a 293, which was 10 shots better than runner-up Marshall County.
Golfers battled scattered showers and windy conditions at times during the round, but no major downpours.
The boys’ State First Round, which includes golfers from Regions 1-4, is set for next Tuesday at Calvert City Country Club.
