Marshall County camped out at the top of the leaderboard on Monday during the girls’ Region 1 golf tournament at Rolling Hills Country Club in Paducah.

Trinity Beth, who has committed to play college golf at the University of Georgia, fired a 6-under-par 66 to claim medalist honors on a day when many other players struggled amid wet conditions on an already-challenging course.

Beth’s round included six birdies and 12 pars. She shot 34 on the front side and 32 on the back nine as she won the regional tourney for the third time.

Ballard Memorial’s Madison Glisson, who is committed to Xavier, was the only other golfer to finish in the red at the regional, shooting a 2-under 70.

Meanwhile, the Lady Marshals ran away with the team competition, claiming their ninth straight regional championship with a 304. McCracken County was runner-up at 358.

Marshall’s Brooklyn Cunningham was fourth overall with a 77 while Kelli Roberts was fifth with a 78.
CeCelia Ray tied for sixth with an 83. Charlee Murphy carded an 89 to tie for 11th.

The Marshall and McCracken teams advance to the State First Round tournament next Monday at Calvert City.

Also advancing are the next 10 lowest scores not on those teams — Glisson, Emlie Miller of Graves County (76), Bailee Lucas of Calloway County (85), Karley Jones of Graves County (88), Keely Henson of Mayfield (88), Emma Dowell of Trigg County (90), Brenna Breitrick of Lyon County (91), Georgia Holeman of Crittenden County (91), Roxie Wilson of Graves County (91) and Kiley Walker of Carlisle County (94).
