
Cruz Egbert put the caps on a solid season as the Heritage Christian Academy freshman finished tied for 30th place at the Region 2 golf tournament on Tuesday at the Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club.
Egbert had a birdie on hole number 4 and shot a 42 on each side of the course. He missed qualifying for the state first round by four shots.
He was joined on the course by Sawyer Lexey, who was competing in his first region golf tournament and shot a 119.
Owensboro Catholic won the region championship with a team score of 311, which was five shots better than second-place Henderson County. Both teams will advance to next week’s KHSAA state first round at the Calvert City Country Club.
Muhlenberg County’s Cy Tudor and Owensboro Catholic’s Vince Hayden tied for top honors with a 3-over-par 74, with Tudor taking the individual title on the second playoff hole.
