The Trigg County Lady Wildcats put up a fight Tuesday evening but ended up dropping a tough four-set road decision to the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers in a 2nd Region volleyball contest. The win gives the Lady Tigers their first two-match winning streak of the season and avenges a five-set loss to Trigg County last year.
The first set gave a pretty good indication of what kind of night it was going to be. Hopkinsville got the win, but it came down to the wire as the Lady Tigers went up one set to none with the 25-22 victory.
Trigg County battled back to even the match by winning the second set 25-23.
Hopkinsville won the third set 25-20 to go up two sets to one, and then repeated the feat in the fourth set to close out the match.
Madysen Taggart had a huge night on the attack for Hopkinsville, finishing with 15 kills. Lainey Stewart ended up with 13 assists, 6 digs, and 6 big service aces. Kyleigh Weber added 9 digs and 5 service aces for the Lady Tigers.
Hopkinsville (4-15) will look for its third straight win Thursday night when the Lady Tigers host Hopkinsville.
Grace Carver and Cali Jones each had seven kills for the Lady Wildcats, while Lilah Booth added 17 digs and five aces. Chloe Adams also contributed 12 assists and three digs.
Trigg County (3-11), which picked up a straight set win over Fulton City on Monday, will return to action Thursday night when the Lady Wildcats host Caldwell County.
